Evaluation of Pharmacological and Catalytic activity of CuO and Zn-Doped CuO Nanoparticles
CuO and Zn doped CuO nanoparticles (Zn-CuO Nps) with varying concentration i.e., ZnxCu1−xO (where x = 0, 0.5, 1, and 1.5%) were prepared via microwave assisted method and characterized by XRD, EDAX and SEM. The surface area was measured by BET method. The XRD patterns confirmed the Zn-CuO Nps have monoclinic structure. The antibacterial activity was evaluated against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus Subtilis, Klebsiella and Campylobacter coli. Zn-CuO Nps showed maximum zone of inhibition against C. coli (29 mm). Antioxidant activity was examined using DPPH and H2O2 free radical scavenging assay. The in vitro cytotoxicity of synthesized material was investigated against breast (MCF7) and lung (A549) cancer cell lines.
